Note: There are two different training requirements from the Preventive Controls for Human Food / Animal Food regulations. Please review this document for a description of those requirements, along with an explanation of the ways in which Alchemy enables you to meet those requirements, including two new training sessions designed to help customers getting ready for FSMA.
Requirement #1
All employees need to be trained on food safety and preventive controls at a level commensurate to their job responsibilities and accountabilities
For example – A warehouse worker where food is all fully packaged may need a different level of food safety training than an employee that handles exposed food on the production line or an employee with responsibility for taking internal cook temperatures on a Ready-To-Eat food. The Alchemy platform provides a wide variety of food safety topics that can help meet the need for food safety awareness training.
In very general terms Alchemy courses have enough detail to meet basic training needs. Every customer should review the food safety courses in their existing Alchemy library and determine if they need to create additional content to ensure employees are fully trained on the facility food safety requirements. By using Creator, customers can edit the Alchemy content, or create their own specific content to meet the exact training needs as required by these regulations.
Requirement #2:
FSMA also calls for specific training for Qualified Individuals A Qualified Individual is the person responsible for the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of the HARPC (Hazard Analysis and Risk Based Preventive Controls) programs in place at a company or facility. FDA has said they will accept work history and experience in lieu of formal training on Preventive Controls. Formal training is recommended however by trade associations as it will contain information that was developed in conjunction with FDA about specific Preventive Controls protocol.
The Alchemy Professional Services team will be providing Train-The-Trainer sessions for Qualified Individuals beginning in early 2016. Please forward contact information for anyone that is interested to Andy Chilton for follow up and scheduling.
