If your organization currently uses Coach, this article will help you prepare for and complete your transition to the new Intertek Alchemy Mobile app. Before removing any legacy apps, it is essential to ensure that all in-progress and completed training data has fully synced to Manager.
As a best practice, we recommend that each of your worksites identify an internal cutover date—the point at which you will stop using the legacy apps and begin using the new Intertek Alchemy Mobile app.
Best Practices
Always sync before deleting legacy apps to prevent data loss.
Complete or abandon any in-progress observations before upgrading.
The new Intertek Alchemy app brings together all the functionality of Coach and Playbook in one place — with enhanced usability and ongoing innovation.
Note: In the Intertek Alchemy app, the observation assignments can be found in the “quick actions” listing, available from the Home screen.
Upgrade Steps
Step 1. Install the New App
Locate and review the minimum requirements document located at the bottom of this article.
-
Search Intertek Alchemy Mobile, Download and install the app from your device’s app store:
Available now: Apple App Store (iOS/iPadOS)
Available now: Google Play Store (Android)
Available Now: Microsoft Store (Windows)
-
Once installed:
-
Log in using your existing credentials.
Note: Your credentials define your access to Playbook and Coach.
You will be prompted to create a new PIN, but you may use the one you had already created from the Legacy app.
Verify access to your users, training content, and relevant data.
-
-
Perform your initial sync to confirm that data is visible and accessible.
The sync may take up to 10 minutes to get all your data positioned into the new application.
At this point, the new app is ready for use, but do not delete your legacy apps yet.
Step 2. Plan Your Internal Cutover Date
Work with your internal team to decide when you’ll fully transition to the new app.
Communicate the transition date to your team.
After that date, users should only use the Intertek Alchemy app.
If possible, coordinate with your IT department to hide or restrict access to the legacy apps to minimize confusion.
Alchemy has not yet announced a deprecation date for the legacy apps, but transitioning early ensures access to new functionality and preserves data integrity.
During the transition period, continue to perform frequent manual syncs from the legacy apps to ensure all data is safely stored in Manager.
Step 3. For Coach Users Only: Review In-Progress Observations
In order to be sure to not lose any data from the Coach application, you should first log in, and complete any in progress observations, as these cannot be transferred to the Intertek Alchemy app unless they are complete.
Open Coach and review all in-progress observations (found under Assignments → Status → In Progress).
Decide whether to complete or abandon each observation.
Complete as many as relevant, and perform manual syncs frequently.
Avoid offline mode whenever possible during this phase.
Step 4. Perform Your Final Sync
Once you reach your intended cutover date:
Gather all devices using Coach.
-
Double-check that there are no in progress Coach Observations.
If there are, return to Step 3.
Repeat the manual sync on each device within Coach apps to ensure all training data is uploaded to Manager.
If your organization chooses to abandon any in progress records, proceed to the next step.
Step 5. Delete the Legacy Applications
After confirming that all data has been synced:
Delete Coach from each device using your operating systems normal uninstall process.
-
You may choose to delete both the app and its stored data.
Only delete data if you are certain the sync is complete and you won’t reinstall.
While legacy apps may continue to function temporarily, Alchemy strongly recommends switching now to benefit from the streamlined experience and ensure continued support.
The legacy Coach application will eventually be removed from app stores and no longer receive updates.
Step 6. Enjoy the New Experience
Once the transition is complete, begin using the new Intertek Alchemy app for all mobile training, observations, and content access.
