Alchemy offers the flexibility and freedom to create your own categories and organize your courses in whatever way you see fit. Custom Categories are visible in Learning Plans, Alchemy Player, eLearning, Reports, and the Course Library with Alchemy Manager.

Create a Custom Category
This can only be done by Manager admins who also have the Category Editor Role. For more information, visit our Access Levels article.
For easier implementation, we recommend reviewing Custom Categories Rules and Best Practices article or watch the video above for guidance on naming conventions and key considerations.- Navigate to Activities and select Course Categories.
- Click on the
symbol at the bottom right screen.
- Provide the name of the Category.

Optional: provide a translation of the Category title by clicking on the
icon next to Translations.
- Optional: Click on the checkbox next to 'Only allow owner and Diamond Admins to use and edit category.
- Click Add.
- You will now see this category in the Course Categories list and can start adding activities to it.

Finding Custom Categories in Player
- Launch your Player and use the Download icon to ensure your Player has the latest activities and users.
- On the Activities tab, find your newly added category in the Categories listing.
