There are two ways to build a Playbook course: in Manager and in Playbook. This article discusses how to build a course in Manager. For information on how to build a course in Playbook, see How to Build a Playbook Course in Playbook.
Note: Any admin with Silver access or higher with Playbook admin add-on or Qualification Admin add-on can create, edit and publish Playbook courses in Manager.

Step 1 | Starting Your Course
- Navigate to Activities and select Courses
- Select the "+" button to create a new course
- Select Alchemy Playbook
- Enter a title
- Choose a language for your course
- Click NEXT
Step 2 | Adding Content to Your Course
The method for incorporating various content types—texts, videos, photos, questions, and documents—is streamlined for ease in Manager. Here's how you can add and format your course content:

Formatting Text Across Content Types
Enhance your course with rich text features and options to provide context or instructions. Title your text, input your content, and use features like bullet points, numbered lists, and hyperlinks for organization.
- Give your text a title in the Headline box.
- Add content in the body text box.
- Format your text with rich text options such as:
- Bold, Italics, and Underline
- Header/body size options including blockquote and code
- Font size and Font type
- Bullet points or a number sequence
- Remove rich text icon

- Note: Rich text features are available for video, photo and text content types. When adding translations to your Playbook course, review added translations to ensure rich text formatting is consistent.
- Add a hyperlink to your content.
- The Link Title is how the link will be displayed; the Link Target is the full weblink
- To remove the link, put your cursor on the link and click on the Unlink icon
- When you are finished editing your text, click NEXT.
Adding Videos and Photos
Adding video and photo content to your Playbook courses is a great way to show how to complete job-specific tasks. They can be taken directly from a smartphone within the Playbook app, carried horizontally or vertically. Or, if you prefer to create content prior to adding a course, you can upload a photo or video.

Add a Document
Adding a document to your Playbook content is a great way to include company SOPs or other documentation to your training courses.

Rearrange Content and Save
Once you are satisfied with all of the added content, you can rearrange it to fit the course needs. For example, if you decide that a particular question should actually be asked after a specific video, you can move it.
- Click and hold the six-dot icon to the left of your content block title, drag and drop your content block.
- Once the content is in the correct order, click SAVE AND CLOSE.
Step 3 | Publish or Save Content
- Select SAVE AND CLOSE when completed.
- Decide to PUBLISH or SAVE DRAFT.
- If you decide to publish, you will be prompted:
- To select what you want to publish.
Note: To ensure that the subtitle feature is enabled, publish all the courses at the same time. For more information on this, refer to our Using Dual Language Course Subtitles article.
- Make notes on how big the edits were, with the option to make version history notes. Visit our How to Use Version History article for more information.
- Playbook will appear as a Delivery Method if/when Playbook is available for a worksite.
- Choose the worksite(s) where the course will be available in Playbook.
- Choose a category (it will default to the Playbook category).
- Click PUBLISH.
- To select what you want to publish.
View the course in Playbook
- Sync the Playbook app with Manager.
- Navigate to Courses in Playbook.
- From here, find and select your course.
- It will give the option to Train user or Quick Reference.
- If you select Train user, it will take you to the Choose user page where you will select the user who will take the course for credit.
- Quick Reference will allow you to review the course content. Quick Reference will not create a transcript, and will not be recorded in Manager.
