How to Edit an Observation

There are two types of Observations, Alchemy and Company Specific. This article discusses how to edit a Company Specific Observation. Alchemy Observations cannot be edited but you can create a copy of it to make changes. Learn more by referring to our How to Copy an Observation article.

Edit a Published Company-Specific Observation

Company-Specific Observations can be edited and saved. When an Observation is edited, a new draft is created to be edited and the older draft version is automatically deleted.

1. In Manager, navigate to Activities, then Observations.
2. Select the title of the Observation you wish to edit.
3. Click SHOW DETAILS to edit the details of the Observation, such as:
   
   • Title of the observation
   • Language
   • Category
   • Worksite
4. Click COPY TO DRAFT under Published to Alchemy Coach to create a draft of the observation.
   
5. Click COPY to confirm. 
   • Note: If there is a draft under Draft version, it will be deleted and replaced with a copy of the published version.
     
   • You will receive a green confirmation ribbon once the draft is copied.

Edit Draft Observation

1. From the details page under Draft Version click EDIT.
   
   
2. Click SETTINGS on the top right corner of the screen.
   
3. Edit the settings as needed.
   
4. When complete, select SAVE.
5. To reorder a section or question, drag and drop the 6-dot icon to the left of the column.
6. Edit section names and questions as needed by clicking on the pencil icon.
7. Delete sections and questions as needed by clicking on the trash icon.
8. Add new sections or new questions as needed.
9. When satisfied with edited questions and sections, click SAVE & CLOSE to save your changes or click PUBLISH to use the observation.
   • Note: Deleting the draft is permanent and can't be undone.
     
     

Using Updated Observation in Coach

1. Sign in to Coach on your mobile device.
2. SYNC the device with Manager.
   
3. Choose a user in your worksite.
4. Select the Observation that you created.
5. Conduct the Observation.

6. SYNC with Manager.
