This article provides an overview of the remotes used during Group Based Training sessions and outlines the function of each button. Familiarity with these controls will help ensure a smooth and successful training experience for both facilitators and participants. To help participants become comfortable using the remote, a downloadable reference diagram is also available for trainers to print or distribute.
Remote Buttons
The Alchemy remotes includes several physical buttons that allow participants to enroll in training and submit their responses. For more information on how to resolve any issue you run into with the remotes during a training session, visit our Remote and RF Troubleshooting article.

Interpreting Indicator Lights
Throughout Group-Based Training, the remote's indicator lights may turn on or flash to indicate different statuses and activities. Refer to the table below for an explanation of each indicator light and its corresponding colors. If a remote is not functioning as expected, see the Remotes Mass Reset article for instructions on resetting individual or multiple remotes.
| While setting up Group-Based Training in Player, the signal indicator will illuminate orange as participants register their remotes. The orange light indicates that the remote is successfully communicating with the base station. | |
| When a question slide appears during a training course, the response indicator beneath the question mark icon illuminates red to show that the participant has not yet submitted a response. | |
| When a participant submits a response during a training course, the response indicator lights green to confirm that the answer has been registered. | |
| When the battery is running low, the indicator beneath the battery icon illuminates orange to indicate that the batteries should be replaced. |
The Role of the Base Station
While the remote's indicator lights provide feedback to participants, the base station serves as the communication hub for Group-Based Training. Connected to your computer via USB, it receives the radio frequency (RF) signals transmitted by the remotes and relays that information to Player. For additional guidance on configuring your training environment for larger sessions, see the Tips for Large Sessions article.
